The Restaurant of Order Mistakes serves an experience you'll never forget

After a long, grilling morning, when seated at a restaurant, food is probably the only matter populating your mind.

Secreting, salivating, soothing the whines that crave the hamburger you ordered, the waiter finally arrives with your dish; only, the dish placed in front of you is not what you ordered: gyoza dumplings.

Frustrated? This is exactly what happened to food blogger Mizuho Kudo at The Restaurant of Order Mistakes, a pop-up restaurant in Tokyo's Toyosu district.

Except her surprise order was delightfully expected, she tweeted.

According to Boredpanda.com, The Restaurant of Order Mistakes hires waiters with dementia who may very well get your order wrong.

However, being well aware of this before going in makes you less likely to get annoyed, and also changes your perception of those who suffer from this brain disease.

The culinary experience allows an opportunity for dementia patients to engage with other members of the society - in a fun, honest way, building a sense of community.

Kudo noted that the wait staff were full of smiles and seemed to be having fun, laughing and excitedly attending to their customers with delicious food.

While there has been some backlash from online users claiming the restaurant's concept is "vile" and that it is "making fun of them and their problems", according to Spoon & Tamago's website, most have supported the mission whose aim is to foster awareness and inclusion.

The pop-up restaurant, which had its trial period from June 2 to June 4 hosted by Maggie's Tokyo, a centre offering support to cancer-sufferers and their families, was such a success that it is set to return in September in honour of World Alzheimer's Day.
