Missed the Galaxy FE last year? It's back with bang — Samsung has announced its line of S-series essentials phones — the Galaxy S23 FE. Also new in the FE family are the new Galaxy Tab S9 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, and Galaxy Buds FE.

Galaxy S9 FE

The FE edition of the Galaxy S23 phone is pretty much the entry-level model of the premium range. Furthermore, Samsung has dropped the price this year, which makes things pretty interesting.

With the S23 FE, what you get is Samsung's S Series design language, which translates into a luxurious-looking housing that's also IP68-compliant (water and dust resistant) and is available in six attractive colours.

The clean lines are accented by a new floating camera array, which features a 50MP main camera with optical image stabiliser and 3x optical zoom, along with digital enhancements in the form of Samsung's Nightography and advanced digital image stabilisation (VDIS).

The Exynos 2200 (somewhat comparable to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1) is coupled with a new vapour chamber design that's 3.9 times larger than its predecessor. It's paired with a 4,500mAh battery and 25W fast charging capabilities, which facilitates a 50 per cent charge in 30 minutes. Battery life is rated for 22 hours of video playback (up from 16 hours).

The 6.4" Dynamic AMOLED 2x features a 120Hz refresh rate (adaptive) and 1,000 nits brightness (1,450 peak, to be confirmed). The phone also features Vision Booster, which detects lighting conditions and keeps the screen vivid.

Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+

Also new is the S9 FE tablet, which is available in 10.9-inch (S9 FE) and 12.4-inch (S9 FE+) displays, and equipped with the Exynos 1380 processor (similar to the Snapdragon 778G).

The 600 nits display now features an adaptive 90Hz refresh rate for added smoothness while Vision Booster helps enhance visibility by optimising colour and contrast in bright sunlight. Like the S23 FE, the tablet is rated IP68 as well.

The battery is rated for up to 18 hours of video playback on the S9 FE and up to 20 hours on the S9 FE+. It supports 45W Supercharging 2.0. Storage-wise, the tablets also support microSD expansion up to 1TB. The tablets come with an S Pen packaged and one year of Goodnotes free.

Galaxy Buds FE

Samsung's FE edition of its true wireless earbuds lives up to the FE branding as well, checking all the boxes that TWS earbuds should at least have: Active Noise Cancellation and Ambient Sound features through a three-microphone system, with AI-powered voice separation for clearer calls.

It has enough juice to enable up to 8.5 hours of playback and up to 30 hours with the charging case. In true crowd pleaser fashion, it has a bass-heavy sound signature as well.

Availability

Prices for the Galaxy S23 FE start from $888 and you can choose between Mint, Cream, Graphite, and Purple colours. Indigo and Tangerine are also available exclusively at the Samsung Online Store.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE series starts at $669. The S9 FE is available in Mint and Grey, while the S9 FE+ is available in Silver.

The Galaxy Buds FE are available for $158 in Graphite and White.

The Galaxy S23 FE will be available in Singapore from Oct 10, 2023. The Galaxy S9 FE series and Buds FE will be available from Oct 20, 2023.
