WP chief Pritam Singh shares about 'best burrito' he ever had from Stuff'd at Hougang Mall

During a challenging period back in 2017 (hint: a certain court case kicked off), Workers’ Party Secretary-General Pritam Singh ate the best burrito in his life. 

A trivial revelation, but one that’s relevant to the current climate, we promise. In a Facebook post that the Aljunied GRC Member of Parliament shared on Tuesday (March 31), he reposted a charitable initiative by the local Mexican-Turkish food chain that offered free burritos to anyone “who might be having some problems putting food on the table”. 

“Over this Covid-19 period, it speaks so highly of business owners who run such establishments like Stuff’d that they keep the community in mind, especially those amongst us who may need a lift,” Pritam wrote, expressing the hope that landlords are playing their part too. 

After all, commercial tenants are finding it tougher to pay the rent after strict measures introduced to curb infections have been impacting businesses. 

But the interesting highlight is that he’s actually a Stuff’d regular — in particular, the kiosk outside Hougang Mall, located right next to the main office of Aljunied-Hougang Town Council. It was there that a burrito gave him the strength to persevere in 2017, during a “challenging period” faced by Workers’ Party MPs.

The food wrappers of Stuff’d's burritos are typically packaged with quotes printed on the tape, and Pritam recalled one that stuck with him. 

“The one on mine read ‘They tried to bury us, they didn’t know we were the seeds’,” he shared. 

“Coincidence or not, that was the best burrito I ever had.” 

Aside from giving a shout-out to Stuff’d, Pritam and his team have been busy putting up posts on social media showcasing their recent walkabouts in their constituencies. With proper social distancing measures, of course. 

As for the WP’s troubles that started in 2017, Pritam and his fellow Aljunied GRC MPs Sylvia Lim and Low Thia Khiang were found liable for damages suffered by the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council, which is said to have made millions in improper payments under their watch.
