We're right in the middle of mooncake (and lantern) season, and there's no time like the present to enjoy it. Here are some events you might want to check out this weekend.
 

1. Mid-Autumn Festival Light-Up @ Gardens by the Bay

Of course, one can't talk about Mid-Autumn Festival without mentioning Gardens by the Bay's Mid-Autumn Festival Light-Up. This year, Gardens by the Bay is celebrating Mid-Autumn with a mixture of onsite and digital activities.

Gardens by the Bay itself will be lit up by installations like the Apricot Grove, which features apricot flowers at various stages of blooming, enhanced with gobo lighting effect to simulate falling flower petals, as well as the Colonnade of Lights, showcasing 1500 paper lanterns that were designed and hand-painted by people from all walks of life.

If you prefer to stay at home, you can check out the virtual programmes this season has to offer such as Chinese dance performances, DIY crafting sessions where you'll learn to make origami lotuses and good-luck knots, a snowskin mooncake culinary demonstration and much more.

2. Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival 2020 (Digital Edition)

Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival is in full swing on Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall's Facebook page.

Despite being hosted digitally this year, the festival is still full of family-friendly programmes to teach your little ones more about the culture and history behind Mid-Autumn Festival.

From the "Rolling in Abundance" lantern installation at Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall itself to moon myths, DIY crafting sessions, interactive storytelling and even culinary videos where you'll learn to make your own Pulut Hitam Snowskin Mooncake, this year's festival promises to be just as thrilling as last year's, if not more so.

3. Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival: A Heartwarming Mid-Autumn 2020

While the streets of Chinatown are still illuminated by colourful lanterns this year, the rest of the usual festivities will be conducted online instead.

That doesn't mean it'll be any less lively though - Instead, you can enjoy the street light-up from home via a virtual tour taken with aerial photography, giving you the best view of these gorgeous installations.

Other highlights include a series of short videos about Mid-Autumn Festival traditions, a lantern painting competition and Chronicles of Chinatown, an online escape room that will test the limits of your brainpower.

4. Every Body Plays a Part: A Showcase of Public Health Crises and Responses in Singapore

6. Get an early start on Halloween festivities
